At IT Patagonia we are looking for a Data Governance Engineer We are looking for a person with an analytical and technical vision. We have a solid background in technology and currently focus their role on the comprehensive management of information governance, quality, and privacy.
The person in this role will be challenged to establish order, reliability, and privacy for data within a highly complex financial ecosystem. They will work across business, technology, and product teams. We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills to build consensus, manage differences between departments, and position data governance as a strategic enabler for the organization.
What will your challenges be?
- Implement the data governance strategy, defining and auditing procedures for data quality, security, and privacy.
- Act as a strategic link between the business, product, engineering, and architecture teams.
- Translate needs, generate agreements, and hold technical and executive conversations with equal fluency.
- Manage team members with diverse interests to build alliances that make the adoption of data policies sustainable.
- Technically validate compliance with data regulations using SQL and Python.
- Establish rigorous controls to ensure the integrity and reliability of the data consumed by analytical models and dashboards. Business Intelligence (BI).
- Monitor and generate metrics or reports on the health status, quality and adoption of data governance in the organization.
- Participate in interdisciplinary working groups, representing the team of analytics and BI with technical expertise and the ability to influence.
What do we expect from you?
Technical Requirements
- Solid technical background and current focus on governance: over five years of experience in the data ecosystem and current experience in environments of data governance and privacy.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python (required): ability to perform complex queries, optimize processes, build automated data quality processes, and explore large volumes of information autonomously.
- Experience in cataloging and data lineage: practical knowledge in the deployment and administration of tools such as Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog or similar cataloging solutions.
- AI-assisted research mindset: agility to use AI tools to autonomously research, assimilate, and apply regulations, rules, or theoretical frameworks.
- Technical and relational articulation capacity: ease in understanding the dynamics of organizations, interacting with infrastructure and architecture teams, and achieving consensus without losing sight of the agility of the processes.
- Adaptability and proactivity: autonomous profile, oriented to solving problems in contexts where technical definitions evolve rapidly.
We value it as an added (not exclusive) value
- Knowledge of regulations from the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA). Familiarity with AI frameworks or data such as the AI Act of the European Union.
- Previous experience interacting with AI tools and environments such as Kiro, Microsoft AI Studio, or similar solutions.
