Unix/Linux platform analyst

IT Patagonia is looking to add a senior IT infrastructure management professional to our team. The selected candidate will join a team of 10 senior-level professionals.

The primary objective of this role is to diagnose and manage the root causes of technical bottlenecks in order to strategically coordinate and escalate the final solution with the relevant vendors or team. This position focuses on analysis, coordination, and escalation, and therefore does not involve direct technical troubleshooting. An initial learning curve of six to eight months is estimated to be required to master the dynamics, communication, and processes of each area within the organization.

What will your challenges be?

  • Participate in the analysis and diagnosis of incidents on infrastructure platforms.
  • Coordinate and escalate the resolution of technical issues with the relevant internal teams or external providers.
  • Manage infrastructure projects based on multi-platform technology environments.
  • Collaborate in the planning, resource control and capacity analysis of the systems.
  • Oversee the maintenance and compliance with the organization's current audit policies.
  • Interact closely with the different areas of the organization to unlock business needs.
  • Research and evaluate technological solutions for the continuous improvement of infrastructure.
  • Plan and control the execution of engineering projects aimed at continuous improvement and capacity analysis (capacity planning).
  • Manage financial investment resources (CAPEX) and operation (OPEX), along with inventories of hardware and software.
  • Supervise the administration, operation and technological maintenance activities carried out by third parties.

What do we expect from you?

  • More than five years of experience in managing SUSE, Red Hat or AIX platforms.
  • Solid prior track record in systems administration (sysadmin) in UNIX or Linux environments.
  • Previous work experience in organizations with between 300 and 500 members.
  • Experience in coordinating and monitoring requirements executed by external providers.
  • Advanced or completed academic training in systems engineering, computer science or related fields.
  • Conversational English level of B2 or higher to work in an integrated way with global teams.
  • General knowledge of storage (SAN storage), networks ( )network), backups (backups) and databases (Oracle).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, assertive communication, problem-solving, and proactive self-management.
  • Constant predisposition to self-directed learning in a constantly evolving IT environment.

Desirable

  • Design, implementation and homologation of high availability infrastructure engineering projects.
  • Experience in infrastructure sizing and capacity exercises (sizing).
  • Familiarity with update processes (upgrade) and migration of multi-platform infrastructure solutions.
  • Basic or intermediate knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMI or CMM.
  • Technical certifications in technologies such as AIX, Red Hat, SUSE, backups or databases.
