In this article we recall the drivers that drove us to create healthy work spaces, which encourage collaboration between teams and promote a balance between Patagonians' work and personal life, and which today opened the doors to this beautiful recognition.

The path that allowed us to obtain the Great Place to Work certification and how it impacts our talent

Having a corporate culture geared towards workplace well-being is one of the main factors in retaining talent. It also has a direct and positive impact on the productivity and competitiveness levels of organizations.

A positive and balanced work environment helps reduce stress and improve physical and mental health of the work teams.

In addition, a team that develops in a healthy work ecosystem tends to be more innovative and creative, which drives the ability of organizations to adapt to market challenges and find differential solutions.

On the other hand, companies that prioritize people's well-being tend to be seen as desirable and ethical employers, which Attract quality talent and strengthen customer loyalty

A good reputation in the labor market can also facilitate the acquisition of clients and business partners.

“The impact on our customers is direct,” he explains. Carolina Olivera, Chief Strategic Officer of IT Patagonia. “They delegate to us the leadership of people who manage technologies, knowledge and specialization, and this is a way of demonstrate that we have the ability to attract and retain the talent that allows us to provide the services that our clients need”.

What does it mean to create a healthy work ecosystem?

Developing a workplace wellness environment involves creating an environment where teams feel valued, safe and motivated

To achieve this, it is common to turn to policies that promote balance between work and personal life:

  • benefit programs,
  • open and transparent communication,
  • professional development opportunities,
  • recognition for a job well done, and
  • a positive organizational climate.

Here are some good practices that help develop an atmosphere of well-being at work:

1. Encourage flexible schedules, home office or hybrid arrangements when possible, and paid time off policies so that employees can balance their personal and work responsibilities.

2. Provide access to healthcare services, mental health counseling, physical activities, and wellness programs such as yoga, meditation, or mindfulness.

3. Create an environment where employees feel comfortable sharing ideas, concerns and feedback, both with leaders and among colleagues.

4. Provide training and development opportunities for employees to improve their skills and advance their careers within the organization.

5. Celebrate individual and team achievements by recognizing employee effort and performance regularly and meaningfully.

6. Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of employees, providing a work environment free of harassment, discrimination and health and safety risks.

7. Promote collaboration between different teams and departments, encouraging teamwork and building strong relationships between employees.

8. Encourage teams to take regular breaks during the day and to disconnect from work outside of working hours to prevent burnout and stress.

9. Offer benefits, such as extra vacation days, sick leave, subsidized child care, or counseling services to help employees care for themselves and their families.

10. Foster a sense of community and support among employees, where empathy, collaboration and camaraderie are promoted.

In IT Patagonia We are clear about this. That is why we are committed to developing corporate policies linked to the development of a healthy work environment, in which The well-being of each and every one of our collaborators is a priority objective

Why are we certified as a Great Place to Work?

Becoming certified as a Great Place to Work company involved and involves undergoing a process of exhaustive evaluation and analysis of our organizational culture and talent management practices.

This process includes anonymous surveys of employees, in which their perception of different aspects of the work environment is evaluated, such as: Leadership, trust, fellowship, pride and camaraderie

In addition, the organization's talent management policies and practices are reviewed.

By meeting the standards established by Great Place to Work, we were able to obtain certification, improving engagement and satisfaction with our teams.

The journey was not short. It began at the end of 2019, with a process of cultural transformation of the company.

This process included different stages of evolution and growth. The climate surveys and the Great Place to Work survey are two important milestones that occurred throughout this process, and which are still ongoing.

“The transformation is something that has already been achieved because the main goal was to achieve greater engagement of people with the organization, a deep sense of belonging,” says Carolina. “And The result today is reflected in having obtained this recognition within the top 5 from the Great Place to Work ranking", he adds.

The results are not only beneficial for us, but also for our clients. Why? Because building a people-centered organizational culture that embraces diversity and where people are truly treated with respect and fairness, is reflected in everyday results.

We do not lose sight of the fact that, like any company, we seek economic results, but As an organization we understand that our main value is people.. So, we make sure that they work in a super pleasant, cordial, loving, humane and respectful environment.

And we also make sure that they have a good time, that they have fun, that they have relaxed spaces, spaces for relaxation, spaces for sharing, for fun, for play, for innovation.

As a result, we ensure that our talents have greater commitment to their role, and greater productivity and capacity for innovation.
